Jose Hernandez-Solaun

President and CEO

Jose Antonio Hernandez-Solaun is the founder of Merrick Capital Partners, a commercial real estate capital markets company. He is also the president of The Easton Group, a 40-year-old vertically integrated commercial real estate company based in Doral.

Prior to joining Easton, Jose spent 15 years with GE Capital where he was a Senior Vice President in the Corporate Finance division, facilitating the financing needs of mid-market companies.   

In addition to his work duties, Jose is very active in the local civic and charitable causes.  He’s chairman of the American Diabetes Association in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties and sits on the charity’s national committee, chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum, as well as his own foundation that teaches financial literacy to young people.  He is also a founding advisory board member with the Idea Center at Miami Dade College and a co-founder of LEAD 305, an open source leadership program.

Jose has achieved a lot at a young age and has been recognized for some of those achievements.  Last year, he was named a Father of the Year by the American Diabetes Association as well as being named by the Miami Herald as one of the top 20 professionals under the age of 40. In 2013 he received the Distinguished Young Leader Award given by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, as well as being tapped into the Iron Arrow, the highest honor attained at the University of Miami.  In 2012, he was honored by the South Florida Business Journal’s top 40 under 40.  

Jose was born, raised and educated here in Miami. He received his undergraduate degree from Florida International University and his MBA from the University of Miami. Additionally, he received a certificate in Strategy and Innovation from MIT.
